We are summarizing in a series of posts, articles on the electrosmog issue in Switzerland appearing in the French-speaking Swiss (Suisse Romande) newspapers and magazines since the late 1990’s in order to show the extent to which the authorities and telecoms companies already ignored or denied health warnings.  Today, society and the media have fallen into denial of the harmful effects of wireless technologies, thanks to the powerful influence of the telecoms industry and addiction to our gadgets.  There is a positive side to this:  We hope that this information will encourage the Swiss to once again strongly advocate for precautionary measures, especially for children, and to raise more awareness of the public regarding this issue.  Already in the late 1990’s and first decade of the 21st century, this issue was of interest and reported in the mainstream Swiss media, which is hardly the case today.  Articles on electrohypersensitivity are only just beginning to appear.  The press now seems to more or less ignore or deny biological health effects and report only on the latest gadgets and applications.   (A big thank-you to Edith Gallay, President of the Spasmophilie-Entraide Associationfor the historical information.)
