Champion of Children, Defender of Education for Women Receive Nobel Peace Prize

At 17, Malala Yousafzai's selection makes her the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.  We have always felt that she deserved this prize. Selecting a Hindu and a Muslim, an Indian and a Pakistani, sends a message of hope of peace between the two countries and recognition of their courageous fight for the rights of children to education and freedom from oppression.

Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi, of India, jointly honored with prestigious award for their fight against suppression of young people. Notably, the teenage Malala has also been an outspoken critic of U.S. drone attacks in her country.

A young Pakistani woman who courageously stood up to those who would deny young girls the right to education, and a man in India who has dedicated his life to ending child slavery have been jointly awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee gave the annual honor to Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai, a Muslim, and India's Kailash Satyarthi, a Hindu, for their separate, but shared, "struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."
