The incidence of children with primary vision problems is on the rise. Experts blame it on children spending long hours playing video games on cell phone, surfing social networking sites on the computer and watching cartoons on television.

LUCKNOW: Doctors at King George's Medical University's opthalamology department have taken note of tiny tots with thick glasses. "The incidence of children with primary vision problems is on the rise. Our experience shows near-sightedness (myopia) in children has gone up from 31% in 2007 to 45% while the prevalence of far-sightedness (hypermetropia) has increased from 4.9% in 2007 to 7% in the city," said Dr Arun Kumar.
