Optometrists say watch out when it comes to your children using technology.
While it may be a no-brainer that spending too much time in front of a screen is bad for your eyesight, a national expert provides some sobering warnings about the effects.
Blue light warning
Since computer and phone/tablet screens are backlit, they "bleed off" high energy radiation in a blue and purple spectrum that is harsh for an eye, said Dr. Albert Pang, an optometrist at Trinity Eye Care in Plano, Texas. The blue/purple light makes the eye refract, causing surrounding objects to go in and out of focus.
