The following commentaries on electrosmog, published in two Swiss newspapers, Tribune de Genève and 24 Heures (« readers’ comments » column) and written by the editor of this blog, are available to everyone to raise awareness of this issue. (Translated from French.) 

Note for this one, the "Danish study" is current news, after The Scientist carried an opinion piece entitled "Scientific Peer Review in Crisis", attacking the British Medical Journal for publishing the study, that found no association between cell phone use and cancer.  The author of the piece is Dariusz Leszczynski, research professor at the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland.

Cell Phones and Cancer Risk (31 October 2011)

A recent study undertaken in Denmark and published by the British Medical Journal (BMJ), shows that long-term use of a cell phone does not increase brain cancer risk. This study, which will probably attract the attention of the media world-wide, gives false assurance to the public on the safety of cell phone use. It weakens the warnings of the authorities who are establishing precautionary measures for cell phone use and who thus are protecting us from the risks, especially for children. A great many scientists say that this study is flawed for reasons explained in the Tribune de Genève article. This study represents the extension of an investigation, stopped in 2002, financed in part by the Danish telecoms industry. Scientists from the International Epidemiology Institute (IEI) contributed to this investigation. The Institute has assisted the telecoms industry in its defense against legal complaints brought by persons with cancers related to cell phone use. Even the credibility of the BMJ is questioned, due to, among other things, its ties with the pharmaceutical industry.
